The West Lancashire Investment Centre is providing a platform for businesses to expand and take on extra staff. Since the start of 2013, the centre’s facilities have been very much in demand as it has welcomed seven new tenants. Existing tenant Cotopaxi Energy has tripled the size of their office space and taken on eight new staff to grow from 12 to 20 employees.

Councillor Adrian Owens, portfolio holder for Regeneration, said: “I am delighted the West Lancashire Investment Centre is providing a base for a diverse range of businesses and helping them to expand.

The Centre is a vibrant hub for business activity with regular free events for businesses and a drop in business café which is ideal for informal meetings. If you haven’t visited the Centre, call in and find out more.”

Cotopaxi Energy develops software to help blue chip companies reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions, Cliff Bradshaw, managing director, praised centre staff and said being based there has helped his company grow from having just two staff members to 20 in three years. He added: “The West Lancashire Investment Centre is significantly better than other places I have been based in with previous companies I have been involved with. In terms of the quality of accommodation and value for money the centre is excellent. “There are other benefits, including the excellent transport links which makes it easy for people to come and see us.

The centre looks extremely professional right down to the gardens and the entrance area which impresses customers. Centre staff have been extremely flexible and have been able to offer us suitable accommodation every time we have taken on more staff, which has been a big help to us when we have needed to expand.”

Computer support and networking firm IT Managed Services Limited moved to the Investment Centre in June 2013. Managing director Phil Taylor said it was the combination of quality office space, facilities and five-star service that led his firm to choose the Investment Centre. He added: “Having outgrown our existing office space, I viewed a number of possible new locations. Only the Investment Centre fulfilled all our criteria: easy access and parking, impressive location, modern building, and onsite conference and catering facilities.

The centre manager made it easy to select the premises through their friendly manner, readiness to understand our business requirements and the help provided in finding the best office suite configuration. Since moving to the Centre in June, our customers, prospective clients and suppliers have been very impressed with our new location, resulting in increased business for our company. Our staff are very comfortable in our new accommodation, allowing us to be more productive as a company.”

The Investment Centre, run by West Lancashire Borough Council, provides office space for businesses of all sizes and has the flexibility to support business growth. Incubator units for new and smaller businesses and some larger suites are available.

Virtual office facilities, which are popular with businesses just starting out and businesses expanding into new markets, are also offered at the centre. The centre is just off Junction 4 of the M58. A range of private conference and meeting rooms are available to hire for training, away days, events, interviews and other purposes. Business people can call into Café Wi-fi for free informal meetings. Use of the car park is free and food and refreshments are available from 8.30am–3pm from Monday to Friday.
